What these people were like is that they all had jobs to make money and trying to just get by. All had a family that they have to take care of and to support. They represent this time period because all of the jobs back then were hard working jobs and some of them are still hard to this day. like Mr. Garavelli (shown above) was a stone-cutter and people died all the time from the dust which was known as silica. He was smart to never go near it. He was trying to support his family as well. Or take Chris Thorsten for example, he was an iron worker who says "you aint an iron worker unless you get killed...men hurt on all jobs". He was squeezed between a crane and broke his collar bone and 3 of his vertebrae. These people represent the the part of the country being studied because people didn't get paid much and were just truing to get by.
